How Do You Feel About The Idea of Surrender?

I’ve known many people in my life that have revolted against the word surrender. Every time I am profoundly perplexed because I experience so much comfort in the practice of surrender.

When I ask those people why they are opposed to that word, it usually has something to do with an image of defeat. It says a lot about our culture.

For me surrender is incredibly powerful for two reasons.

First, it means that you are courageous enough to realize that you are willing to change and release old ideas, thoughts and outcomes despite your fear.

And second, it means that you have such a deep trust in a creator/god/goddess/higher power that you know it is safe to let go, and trust that you will be guided without having to hold on so tightly.

When you look around at the natural world you see the power of surrender play out every day. The buds surrender to the light of the sun and open. The seeds surrender to the moist darkness of the soil and break open. Fledglings surrender to the sky and learn to strengthen their wings and fly.

With each breath we exhale we have the opportunity to surrender more deeply into the moment… into our bodies. Try it. Breathe deeply and surrender into your body. It is a delicious experience.

Surrender has a way of opening us up to possibilities and opportunities we didn’t even know existed. Love you.

Are You Ready To Release Those Things That Hold You Back From Your Vibrance?

The ego is the part of us that works to protect us from death.

While avoiding physical death is a good thing, avoiding the death of a behavior, or identity that no longer serves us is detrimental. The ego’s fear prevents us from releasing parts of ourselves that no longer serve our evolution.

The ego is afraid of letting any part of us fall away because it views that falling away as death.

From a physical standpoint there are healthy fears that keep us safe from physical death (fear of jumping off of a bridge; fear of stepping into roaring flames, etc.), but the ego does not recognize the difference between physical death and the death of a past identity/behavior.

The ego fears change, period.

Learning to distinguish healthy fear, from the ego’s fear of change is an important first step in rediscovering our sacred wild self.

When we are able to connect with the divine, tap into our body’s wisdom, and learn to trust the process of letting go, then we begin the process of stepping into a fuller, more vibrant identity.

Breathe deeply. Feel deeply. Know deeply. And with faith, step boldly into your authentic, unshakeable self.

We Welcome The Vernal Equinox

Today is the first day of spring! I love this time of year. This is the time of year that sap is rising into the heart of the trees… when buds are filling will life force and expanding… when bulbs of crocus and daffodil are sending forth shoots that will soon bloom into flowers. This truly is a time of new beginnings, new life.

Now is a time full of powerful, expansive, growth energy. It is also a time to clean the literal and figurative dust from the corners. March is known as a month of turbulence. The wind from the sky loosens dead branches to fall from trees… loosens seeds from their pods… and also strengthens young shoots and branches.

How can we harness this energy for ourselves? Reflect on your thoughts and your actions. What is working for you? What is no longer serving you? Where do you need to become stronger?

Commit to yourself to do an inner house cleaning/assessment. Commit to working on clearing old patterns, thoughts, and behaviors from your life. Notice where the seeds of positive thoughts are beginning to emerge and nurture those young shoots of life. Follow nature’s lead… she is wise.

When we connect ourselves to the seasons, and heed the wisdom therein contained we naturally grow, expand, release, plant, nurture, and THRIVE in our lives. Happy Spring, Sisters! Open your arms and your hearts to this season of growth! You are worthy!!! 💖🙏🏽 ~Sacred Wild Blessings, Suzy Hawkfire (Suzette Winona Summers)

Wisdom from Toko-pa Turner

“Emergence never happens all at once. It is a slow stepping into the expanded capacity of your next self. You may need practice at releasing in those places you’ve grown accustomed to bracing which, like a tight swaddle, was comforting in its limits. But when the time to remain hidden comes to its natural end, you must begin to inhabit your new dimensionality. Breathe into the fullness of your gaining altitude and consider that what presents itself as fear may actually be exhilaration.”Toko-pa Turner, Belonging: Remembering Ourselves Home (www.belongingbook.com)
