When you are a prisoner of your emotions you avoid people, places, and situations because you know you will have emotions and your past experiences with emotions leave you feeling stuck within them. Eventually this “stuckness” can turn to depression.
When we are a master of our emotions we know that emotions will arise, but we move through them because we know how to process them, and we are not intimidated by the process. They flow like clean, clear water… we don’t allow them to become stagnant and putrid in our system.
